Volunteer hours can be fulfilled. Please bring appropriate documentation to be signed daily for your hours.  You must commit to two orientation days in order to participate. Orientation hours count towards volunteerism. 

Camp Facilitators (6-8) - Summer 2020

Requirements

  • Active enrollment in high school (17 or 18 years of age preferred). 
  • Active enrollment in college. 
  • Any community member interested in supporting LearnThink Media mission and goals.
  • Able to work Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or Part-Time, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m./1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Week of July 4th off. Camp Dates: June 8-12; June 15-19; July 6-10; July 13-17

Camp Facilitator Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of students as they engage in camp activities.
  • Rotate sign-in/sign-out duties with other camp facilitators.
  • Assist students with planning, support and lead them as they participate in camp activities.
  • Work with other camp staff members to plan and coordinate events.
  • Monitor students to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.
  • Report incidents, accidents, or rule violations to camp staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings at the end of each camp day.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of all areas of camp, including the specified summer camp restroom. *Lunch area and classroom must be clean at all times.* Requires the taking out of trash on a regular as needed basis.
  • Memorizing all emergency procedures and enforcing camp rules.

Camp Facilitator Requirements:

  • Experience working in camps, with kids, or with specific related activities preferred.
  • High level of responsibility and accountability.
  • Upbeat, engaging personality.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

General Rules 

  • Camp starts promptly at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.
  • Always sign in and out (Downstairs) 
  • Cellphones should always be on silent. if you need to take an emergency call, please step outside area of instruction. No texting or phone calls during presentation or class time. 
  • Restroom location is downstairs. Students can take a restroom break without permission, preferably not during a presentation.
  • Lunch hour is from 12pm to 1pm
  • Parents can drop off lunches at the front table between 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Your lunch must have your name on it.
  • Absolutely no running.
  • Watch your step on the stairs, no running!
  • Students are not allowed to handle equipment without supervision. All equipment belongs to Producers & Executive Director. 
  • Please pick up after yourselves. This camp is your home for the next 5 days. Please respect your space and others around you.
  • Drinks are not allowed in the classroom without a closed cap or lid
  • IMPORTANT Anything behind the curtains in room 2 and 3 is off limits for your safety. If you get caught walking back, there you will have one warning after that you will be dismissed from camp with no refund.
2nd Inaugural Youth Vision Film Festival Volunteers, Saturday, October 17

Orientation Days: Saturday, September 14: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Film Festival Day: Saturday, September 21: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

Requirements

  • Active enrollment in high school (17 or 18 years of age preferred). 
  • Active enrollment in college.  
  • Any community member interested in supporting LearnThink Media mission and goals. 

Greeters (a total of 3) Saturday, September 21 9:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m.

  • Responsible for greeting guests.
  • Direct guests to check-in booth to confirm ticket purchase and to pick up film festival badge.
  • Ensure guests are given an opportunity to have their photo taken at the step and repeat banner. 
  • Pass guest to Ushers for seating arrangements. 
  • Assist Ticketing with responsibilities if necessary. See Ticketing duties below. 

Ticketing (a total of 4) Saturday, September 21 9:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m.

  • Responsible for checking in guests using prepared guest list. 
  • Deliver appropriate film festival badge to guest(s). 
  • Ensure an usher guides guest(s)/group to alternate theaters (theater 1 & theater 3). 

Ushers (a total of 6) Saturday, September 21 9:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m.

  • Responsible for getting people seated so we start on time. 
  • Theater 1 and Theater 3 are reserved for LearnThink Media’s Youth Vision Film Festival. 
  • Ushers are to coordinate with Greeters to ensure guests have picked checked in, picked up their film festival badge and had an opportunity to take their photo at the step and repeat banner.  
  • Reserved seating are for sponsors.  You must make sure seat markers are not taken or moved.
  • Guide people to their seats and provide directions for restrooms. 

Merchandise Assistant (a total of 1) Saturday, September 21 9:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m.

  • Assist Merchandiser with inventory check after purchase. 
  • Deliver purchase to guest(s). 
  • Manage the merchandise booth during film festival. Sales can only be made by Lead Merchandiser before and after film festival. 
  • Position requires a letter of recommendation and a minimum of 3 references.
  • Position requires 18+ years of age. 

Festival Feedback Team (a total of 6) Saturday, September 21 9:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m.

  • Volunteers ensure the delivery of surveys to guests at least 20 minutes prior to screening (volunteers to place surveys for each seat location prior to opening up theater for 
  • Responsible for picking up all survey ballots and delivering to check-in booth ballot box prior to screening. 

Pre-Festival Team (a total of 2)  Thursday, September 19 & Friday, September 20 (full-time)

  • Assemble gift bags for for Sponsors (T-Shirts, booklet, stickers, etc.)
  • Conduct inventory against list of needed supplies; prepare list of what supplies are needed; restock merchandise bins in preparation for the start of the festival.
